Falmouth Docks Pensioners Annual Xmas Dinner 2013

A&P Falmouth Ltd held its annual pensioners Christmas dinner on Friday evening for retired workers of Falmouth Docks.

Nearly 130 retirees were waited on by directors, senior managers and staff of A&P Falmouth, and served a traditional two course Christmas meal of Roast Turkey and Christmas Pudding, all washed down with some ìChristmas cheerî at Falmouth School.
Paul Kneebone, HR Manager of A&P Falmouth, said: ìOnce again it was a good evening and a chance catch up with old friends and colleagues, it is certainly something that the Pensioners and company management alike look forward toî.

Peter Child, Managing Director, gave his annual report, reflecting on tough year for the company he thanked his management team and the workforce for their continued commitment through a difficult period. The news that the company had recruited a small number of apprentices was welcomed news. The Pensioners’ return of thanks was given by retired Engineering Manager Mr Stuart Martin, before a quiet toast to absent friends and former colleagues unfortunately no longer with us. The kitchen staff at Falmouth School were presented with bottles of wine and thanked for the excellent meal before the raffle of prizes generously donated by suppliers to A&P rounded off the evening.

A&P North East Big on Charity

A&P North East have been delighted to donate £1000 each to 5 charities chosen by their Health and Safety Team.

The money is raised through a QHSE incentive whereby A&P staff and subcontractors are empowered to raise Health and Safety concerns. We ask that ACCE Cards (Accident Control Care of Environment) are completed and passed to Management/H+S Team for action. We ensure that all of these concerns are reviewed and measures are put in place so that potential hazards are made safe. For each ACCE card that is filled in A&P North East donate cash to a charity savings fund.

£5000 has been saved through the life cycle of this incentive!!!

A&P therefore chose the below charities to receive a donation:

The Toma Fund – a charity which supports children, teenagers, young people and their families in the North East and Cumbria who have been affected by a diagnosis of childhood cancer.

All For Eve – Eve from Ashington has the condition ‘Locked in Syndrome’ after suffering a massive haemorrhage. The money raised for her allows equipment to be purchased to make her life more comfortable.

Willow Burn Hospice – cares for the lives affected by life limiting illnesses.

St Claire’s Hospice – provides specialist palliative care to adults who live South of the Tyne including pain relief medication, medical supplies, patient transport and respite care.

Help for Hero’s – deliver a national network of support for our wounded and their families including the running of recovery centres.

Chris McManus, A&P North East Managing Director commented “Keeping our staff, subcontractors and clients safe whist on site is of ultimate importance. I would like every person that visits the site to go home the way they came… safe. The fact that charities benefit from this incentive is a huge bonus. All of our staff buy into the incentive scheme which allows them to highlight areas of improvement. We are a business that constantly strives to better our standards in the hope that accidents are kept to a minimum”.
